The Pastons in Medieval England is a translation into modern English of a selection of letters sent by members of the Paston family during the 15th century. The letters cover important historical events, and also important personal events in the lives of the family. They offer a unique insight into a vanished way of life. The Pastons came from the county of Norfolk in East Anglia. Members of the family were landowners, soldiers, lawyers, member of parliament, students and members of the royal court. There are about 1000 letters in the final collection, most of which date from between 1425 and 1499. They cover the period of time in which England experienced the War of the Roses, and the beginning of Tudor rule. Only a tiny selection of letters are in this collection, but enough to give the reader a glimpse into the Life of the Paston family. Many of the letters are now in the British Museum. The book has beautiful color illustrations, some from original manuscripts, other in the style of the 15ths. A glossary is also included.
