One of the foremost sculptors of his generation, Nigel Hall RA is renowned for his works in steel, aluminium, bronze and polished wood. From his boyhood he remembers watching and working with his grandfather, a stonemason who restored churches and other buildings: 'Experience of carving has affected the way I make sculpture and drawings, which is very much to do with light and shade, and edge.' After an introduction by the distinguished art writer Andrew Lambirth, Hall's skill as a draughtsman is here revealed, as is the importance of drawing to his sculptural practice.
